
PAN Card is a very important document. It is needed for everything from opening a bank account to filing income tax. But if you think that a PAN card is made only for adults i.e. those above 18 years of age, then it is not so. There is no age limit set by the Income Tax Department for making PAN cards. PAN card is also made for children. However, children cannot apply for it themselves, their parents have to apply. Let us tell you how the PAN card is made for children and what is its use.

When children need a PAN card
When you are investing in the name of your child.
You want to make the child the nominee of your investment.
You want to open a bank account in the name of the child.
The minor earns himself.
When How is a PAN card made for children
To get a PAN card made for children, their parents or legal guardians have to apply. In such a situation, they have to first visit the NSDL website.
Form 49 A has to be filled in from there. Read all the instructions carefully to fill out Form 49 A. Fill in all the personal information by choosing the right category.
Now upload the minor’s age certificate and other necessary documents including the photo of the parents.
During this, upload only the signature of the parents and after paying the fee of Rs 107, submit the form.
Then you will get a receipt number, which you can use to know the status of the application.
After applying, you will get an mail. The PAN card will reach you within 15 days of its verification.
If you want to apply offline
If you want to apply offline for the child’s PAN card, then you have to download Form 49A from the official website and fill it. After this, attach two photographs of the child, and all the required documents with the form and submit it to the nearest NSDL office along with the fee. After verification, the PAN card will be sent to the given address.
These documents will be required.
Address and identity proof of the minor’s parents will be required.
Applicant’s address and identity certificate are also required.
As proof of identity, the minor’s guardian will have to submit any one of the documents from an Aadhaar card, ration card, passport, driving license, or voter identity card.
For address proof, one copy of an Aadhaar card, post office passbook, property registration documents or domicile certificate will have to be submitted.
Apply to update Aadhaar at the age of 18
The PAN card issued in the name of a minor does not have his/her photo and signature, so it cannot be used as identity proof. When the minor turns 18, he/she has to apply for a PAN card update.
