The past of Goa International Airport includes Dabolim, which was the first airport in Goa. It was first built by the Portuguese in 1955, when Goa was still a part of Portugal. After that, in 1961, the Indian navy and the Goa government took over.

The airport is well-equipped with services to make sure people have a comfortable and easy trip. It can handle both domestic and international travel. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is home to many airlines that fly between Goa and important places around the world.

Over the years, it has undergone several expansions and renovations to accommodate the increasing number of passengers and flights. Today, it features modern amenities and services, making it an important hub in the state’s economy through tourism.

Vasco da Gama is 4 km away, and Panaji, the capital, is 30 km away. A new passenger building that had just been fixed up opened at Dabolim Airport in 2013.

Essential Planning Tips for Your Goa Getaway

When planning your getaway to Goa, it’s wise to keep a couple of key tips in your back pocket for a smooth experience. Here are a few tips:

  1. Choose your arrival airport wisely in Goa. Skip Manohar International if you’re keen on grabbing an app-based cab right away, as their services aren’t fully set up yet. It might be a better call to land somewhere else if you can.
  2. Always have a backup transport plan, maybe a local cab or shuttle service, to keep your trip smooth and hassle-free.

Happy travelling!
