Auto Expo 2025: BMW pulled a surprise at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo with the launch of the iX1 LWB since it is a long wheelbase version of its hot selling X1 while equally important is the fact that it is a locally assembled electric BMW at a competitive price. Infact the price tag can be called shocking since the X1 Long Wheelbase eDrive20L M Sport is Rs 49,00,000 and that is way more affordable than other luxury EVs. It is also the most accessible X1! Being assembled in India has given BMW the ability to price it competitively.
Visually, the X1 LWB is longer when seen from the side with the length increasing to 4616mm along with a longer wheelbase at 2800mm. That means a longer rear door but it is the space inside which is truly huge. It is way more than the regular X1 and also is much more spacious than any luxury car at that price or even above it at the next segment. The space inside is big and even really tall passengers can stretch out. A panoramic sunroof also adds to the sense of space.
The rear seat too has enough comfort and has contouring while reclining function up to a maximum angle of 28.5 degrees is also there. In terms of rear seat space the X1 electric long wheelbase makes a good option and the rear seat is the talking point here. As for the rest of the car and the EV powertrain, we will have a review coming shortly.
